D&AD Brief - Ideas - iPhone game
Just going to put up some final ideas for the iPhone game. Whilst I was on my global warming topic I thought maybe I could tie in the Invisible Architecture brief with the D&AD brief.
The game is going to be based around a character going through levels in a platform game, that has to collect green tokens to stop the weather from killing him.
Acid rain, thunder and lightning storms and tornado's can kill the character, but if you collect the green tokens it stops the bad weather. You can also pick up items like an umbrella hat that can give you a lifeline and a metal box that you can jump into if it's windy.
These are just very rough ideas and hopefully the first steps towards a fun and interesting project!

Invisible Architecture - Timeline Update
Invisible Architecture - co2 emissions, but why?
So why did I choose to do a project about countries in europe and their co2 emission levels?
I'm not a big geography fanatic, but I find global warming to be something that people don't take seriously enough. The daily use of motor vehicles and power plants are contributing majorly. I can understand that people have places to be and business's to run but do they realise the long term circumstances?
I doubt it.
So this brings me to my project, just giving people an insight to how much (As a country and a continent) is contributed.
1000 tonnes is a lot of carbon dioxide, and I think many people will be shocked at how quickly countries release it.
Facts.
• Average temperatures have climbed 1.4 degrees
• The rate of warming is increasing. The 20th century's last two decades were the hottest in 400 years.
• Arctic ice is rapidly disappearing, and the region may have its first completely ice-free summer by 2040 or earlier.
• An upsurge in the amount of extreme weather events, such as wildfires, heat waves, and strong tropical storms, is also attributed in part to climate change by some experts.
Sea levels are starting to rise, ice is starting to melt. The summer is getting warmer and the winters cooler. Who knows what will happen in the future if this is to continue......

D&AD Brief - Ideas - Little Big Planet
While I was thinking of ideas for a game, I started playing Little Big Planet. This gave me some inspiration towards the idea and style of game I want to create. The game has to be enjoyable and interesting. Simple ideas for characters but are good to look at and have interesting features.
I'm not going to go into vast detail about the game and it's gameplay at the moment, as the key part of my brief is the interactivity between the phone and the screen.
More posts to follow shortly.
D&AD - Open Brief - What Else Do You Do?
Synopsis - We are looking only for original work created to your own brief that proves that you have a creative mind par excellence. We want to see that you can push harder or even step outside of the briefs and categories that D&AD and your tutors set and flex your creative muscles in spectacular ways.
For this brief I have thought of two ideas that I am going to go through with.
Here are just two quick explanations about the ideas, I will go into more detail at a later time, and upload some jpegs.
1) Creating an iPhone application that allows users to access a music blogging website and upload/download tracks straight to ipod playlists.
This is very much directed towards people who are on the move and want to add songs to their playlists quickly. This is also unique in the fact that there isn't another way to add songs to your playlist without going through itunes first.
2) I am going to create a game for the iPhone that has a visual interaction with screens, so you can create characters using the phone and, dragging them onto the screen with pre-loaded levels and using the phone as a controller that responds to your hand movements with the phone.

Invisible Architecture - Timeline Update
Here are the first steps towards a timeline that shows how long each country in Europe takes to emit 1000 tonnes of co2. As the timeline is running, countries will light up when they have emitted the 1000 tonnes.
As you can see from this picture, after 56.1 seconds, countries have lit up and have been listed in the top left corner.
